July is Kapintig month for IPDI
KAPINTIG is an annual intercultural learning tour of young Austrians in the Philippines towards building global solidarity. It highlights the instrumental role of DKA partners and Austrian delegates in the whole process of intercultural learning.
DKA’s theme for this year is “Picture of the Other” ( Global information about world context). IPDI together with the Kapintig Network crafted the whole program for eight (8) young Austrians headed by Clemens Huber, Robert Jolly, Georg Stutz, Brigette Lutz, Katharina Schmid, Cornelia Selch, Mirijam Mock and Renate Mittermayr. Guided by the Kapintig theme “Faces of Life at the Pearl of the Orient”; these austrians will experience and understand Church of the Poor and Rural life in the Coastal communities of the island province of Marinduque, Urban poverty and urbanization in the streets of Caloocan and the households in Valenzuela; and lastly embrace Indigenous culture and their struggle with the Aeta community in Zambales.
The whole journey of the Austrians will be facilitated by the following DKA partners namely; Asian Social Institute, Christian for Social Reforms, and Salvatorian Pastoral Care for Children for Manila leg designed as Aninag at Pintig ng Samabayanan, Diocese of Boac for Marinduque Experience designed as Mukha sa Likod ng Maskarang Morion; Partners in Health Care – Aktibong Komunidad para sa Kalusugan ng Mamamayan for Urban Community Experience designed as Mukhang Nakakubli sa loob ng barung-barong; and Lubos Alyansa ng mga Katutubong Ayta ng Sambales for Indigenous culture experience designed as Mukha ng mga unang nanahayan sa bansa, respectively.
This year, the participants for KAPINTIG 2011 are: Renate Mittermayr, Cornelia Selch, Robert Jolly, Brigette Lutz, Georg Stütz, Katharina Schmid, and Mirijam Mock. They will be accompanied by Clemens Hüber, the team leader for this year. Clemens first visited the Philippines as part of KAPINTIG 2007. |
