Converging for Learning

Lebanon Shelter New Manila, Quezon City
March 14-16, 2011

Travelling from their respective provinces, representatives of the five BEC partners of the Integrated Pastoral Development Initiative (IPDI) and Mensen met een Missie (MM) came together for the first 2011 Partners Meeting on March 14-16 at the Lebanon Shelter in Quezon City. The event was attended by the Directors and Coordinators of the Social Action Centers of Boac and Gumaca; Vicariates of DiBiCaDi and San Carlos, and the faith-based NGO Christian Advocates for Justice and Development (CAJDEN). IPDI Board Chairperson Lulu Cipriano, Executive Director Bembet Madrid and the new MM Program Officer Ton Groeneweg also participated.

With the theme of “Learning Within Networks”, the event highlighted the value of a learning organization and how each organization form a dynamic learning network which is adept in addressing the signs of the times and directed towards a common goal.

IPDI Board Chairperson Lulu Cipriano provided an insightful welcome address that set the tone for the consultation workshop. “I am sincerely hoping for the continuing ‘transformation’ of our partners towards a more dynamic and fruitful partnership for the years to come”, she added.

The three day meeting served as a consultation- workshop in which participants reflected, shared experiences, and gained knowledge necessary to make their programs more relevant to their respective communities while enhancing effectiveness and efficiency of the whole network.

“We are all co-learners, working together - doing things together towards an end and a mission’, Bembet Madrid said. According to her, she excited with the development, the process and the changing of roles and common understanding on how the network should work.

Towards the end of the meeting, Ton Groeneweg of MM acknowledged the great works done by IPDI and partner organizations in the last five years, citing among others, efforts to cluster POs, away from treating partners individually, in order to establish a network among MM BEC partners.

The MM BEC partners will again meet in September of this year for the second MM BEC Partners Meeting and Exposure in Boac Mariduque.
