RBM-izing Projects Work
MMLDC Antipolo City
February 23-25, 2011.
The need for organizations to urgently create more impact for beneficiary communities to uplift marginalized conditions, coinciding with funding institutions requirements for aid effectiveness, is pushing local groups including IPDI partners to use more result-oriented or result-based planning (management) framework.
It is with this context and in preparation for the FASTENOPFER Philippine country program in mind that the Fastenopfer (Swiss Catholic Lenten Fund) and the IPDI engaged the services of the MDF IndoChina and MDF Pacific Indonesia team of Mr. Bart Van Haltoren and Ms. Pui Yee Chan to provide a Result-Based Management (RBM) training to SCLF partners last February 23-25, 2011. Management for Development Foundation or otherwise known as MDF Training & Consultancy is a world-wide training and consultancy agency and their mission is to enhance management capacities of professionals and organizations in the development sector. The MDF team who came for the trainings flew in from the MDF IndoChina and MDF Pacific Indonesia where just a year ago IPDI Executive Director Ms. Bembet Madrid and IPDI Davao team leader Ervin More also attended an MDF training on Organizational Development and Institutional Strengthening (OD/IS).
Among the partners who attended the MDF training were: CERD, SARILAYA, TFDP, YAPAK, TCD, KMALIG, CSR Negros, GASA, MASIPAG Mindanao, PINA, FDC, BDSI, & SPARCDEV. Other IPDI DKA partners also attended the training, namely MACEC and CordisRDS.
The entire IPDI staff also had a similar training by the MDF that same month. And at present, both IPDI offices, Manila and Davao are also currently honing their skills in using RBM tools, incorporating them in the IPDI project officers’ accompaniment project discussions. IPDI Partners, depending on their willingness and readiness, are then assisted by the IPDI project officers in this regard.
Over-all while tedious and would cause additional preparatory time, effort and activities, the approach has proven to be well worth it -- for after all – increasing the chances of creating, measuring, planning and working for greater and wider impact on the marginalized beneficiaries is what we development workers live for! |
